Campfire Music Foundation presents a fundraiser focused on artist compensation in the streaming era and how our nonprofit is working to change that. Four boundary pushing acts deliver performances interwoven with thought provoking commentary about fair pay, streaming inequality, and what a long term solution looks like. The organization is building an ethical streaming platform and invites you to come support and learn more. Featured Artists: Mayyadda Mayyadda is a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose music blends neo-soul, folk, pop, and subtle trap influences into a style she calls “BlackGirlMagic.” A self-taught guitarist and lifelong pianist, she began creating original work in college, using songwriting as a way to share personal stories with honesty and depth. Since releasing her debut EP Blue in 2016, she has built a growing catalog including eightynine, Holding Space, and her latest project Try&Remember: The Acoustic Album, recorded live in a single take. Known for her warm vocals, eclectic arrangements, and emotional clarity, Mayyadda has cultivated a dedicated following, drawing listeners into music that invites reflection, connection, and healing. Johannes Larson Trio Johannes Larson is a 24-year-old drummer who has been playing jazz drums for about a decade. Johannes graduated from Georgetown University where he studied American Music Culture and played in multiple groups including the Georgetown Jazz Big Band. Some of his favorite drummers are Brendan Canty, Ches Smith, and JT Bates. Currently based in Minneapolis, he brings his former trio from DC to the Twin Cities with guitarist Kiyan Saifi and bassist Teymour Saifi, both active in Washington DC projects such as Opposite Tiger and Fateful Encounter. Together, their trio blends elements of jazz punk, noise, and free improvisation. Inspired by Ethan Bortnick, MothKid brings raw energy and emerging artistry. Drey Dk Drey Darst Kereakos, otherwise known as drey dk, is an indie songwriter and self-taught producer based in Minneapolis, MN. Their songs are spacious and often minimalist, but hold heavy emotional weight. Their works thus far are heavily dominated by synthesizers, and are layered with guitar, vocal harmonization, and manipulation, drawing influence from artists like Beach House, Cocteau Twins, and The Cure. Other than studying voice and piano in academic settings growing up, Drey has taught themself ultimately everything they know about playing guitar, recording, producing, mixing, mastering, and independent releasing. From 2015-2019, Drey strictly uploaded tracks to a Soundcloud page, occasionally sharing them around whilst only performing within various schools and music-based establishments they attended. Since then, they have independently released three singles and two full-length EPs on a global scale, all on their own. Why attend: Experience diverse, dynamic music while learning about the urgent need for fair compensation in the digital age, and support a nonprofit building an ethical music streaming platform. All proceeds will go towards paying the acts of the evening and supporting the foundation’s programs, artist focused initiatives, and release of a closed beta music streaming app. Format & Flow: • Four performances alternating with short talks on testimony on artist pay, streaming inequities, and the mission of the foundation. • An opportunity for audience Q&A and support sign ups during the event.

6PM DOORS 8PM SHOWTIME Full food and beverage menu available for the show. $20 ADVANCE(+taxes/fees) $27 DAY OF For a handful of summers about 30 years ago, tourists who wandered into a large dancehall in Stanley, Idaho, witnessed a family tradition finding new life. Young and old sat shoulder-to-shoulder, taking a break from the town’s mountain hikes and river campgrounds to take in Muzzie Braun and the Boys––a local family band who’d made it to the Johnny Carson Show, effortlessly spouted cowboy poetry and Western swing at gatherings around the country, and featured Muzzie’s four young sons––precocious boys with rock-and-roll futures, the youngest of which is Micky Braun. The Braun brothers never stopped. Big brothers Cody and Willy started Reckless Kelly, and Micky and Gary left Idaho for Austin and started Micky and the Motorcars, a road-dogging favorite whose nonstop tour for the last 24 years has defined not just the lives of the brothers, but also shaped Austin’s roots-rock resurgence that has played out over the last two decades. Micky and the Motorcars cement their place as elder statesmen of that alt-country scene who have managed to master that ever-elusive blend of artistic familiarity and surprise. Beyond his role of co-fronting the band, Micky has been a prolific writer having written with Parker McCollum, Reckless Kelly, Randy Rogers, Cody Canada, Bruce Robison, Kevin Welch, Jason Eady, Adam Hood, Jessie Plemons, Wade Bowen, Courtney Patton, and more. “If you can put your heart on your sleeve and say it, it’s the best medicine for people,” Micky says.

An Evening with Makaya McCraven

Thu, Sep 25

6pm Doors 8pm Showtime Full food and beverage available for this show. 21+ $25 Adv (+fees/taxes) $35 Day of (+fees/taxes) His newest album, In These Times, is the triumphant finale of a project 7+ years in the making. It’s a preeminent addition to his already-acclaimed and extensive discography, and it’s the album he’s been trying to make since he started making records. McCraven believes that the word “jazz” is “insufficient, at best, to describe the phenomenon we’re dealing with.” The artist, who has been aptly called a “cultural synthesizer”, has a unique gift for collapsing space, destroying borders and blending past, present, and future into poly-textural arrangements of post-genre, jazz-rooted 21st century folk music. Profiled in Vice, Rolling Stone, the Guardian, and NPR, among other publications, he and the music he makes today are at the very vanguard of that phenomenon. According to the New York Times, “McCraven has quietly become one of the best arguments for jazz’s vitality”. The artist explained to NPR in 2019, "I don't think what I'm doing is necessarily that far off of the legacy of jazz that I grew up in ... I think one of the things that gives it strength is that people want to argue over it. That's a good sign. That means there's life here."
