Singer-songwriter Sammie Jean Cohen, was born and raised in Minneapolis Minnesota 1990. She grew up listening to a wide range of music. Her mother listening to R&B Hip pop/Rock her father had an ear for country and old folk music which led Sammie to become a bluesy americana artist. This year Sammie is focused on writing, recording and playing out. While she is not on stage singing you will often see her running around to other gigs and festivals snapping photos. She one day dreams to open for Lucinda Williams And Heartless Bastards! Sammie also is releasing her very first single this Spring, 2025 Wild Horse. Check the teaser video above and stay tuned. WILD LYRE “It would be like if Kurt Vile and Mac DeMarco had a kid together, but then that kid met Tom Petty and they had a kid, but like Heartbreakers Petty, and that kid was actually Bob Seger, and then Seger had multiple kids w JJ Cale, and then all of Seger’s and JJ’s kids took acid together and locked each other in a studio to write songs and rehearse every Sunday night for two years in someone’s backyard drinking bubbly waters and rum and sometimes Miller Lite, but there was never any food so they’re all pretty hungry. It kinda sounds like that.” - C Holley Otherwise “Minnesota rock and roll band” will suffice ;). Jillian Rae is a powerhouse indie artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lauded as a “triple threat on vocals, fiddle and composition” (Star Tribune), Rae is a fiercely unique spirit who cares more about making authentic music than about conforming to expectations. After getting her start as a side-woman in a plethora of folk and americana bands (including Steve Kaul and the Brass Kings, Brian Just Band, Killer Hayseeds, and Duluth-based Two Many Banjos) Rae broke out on her own with her debut solo record Heartbeat in 2013, and since then has become a prolific performer and local favorite. Since Heartbeat, Jillian Rae has toured extensively, released 8 singles (Heart In A Jar, 2014; Superlungs, My Super Girl, 2015; When Doves Cry, 2017; Medication, 2018; Doing My Best, 2022; Stuck, 2022; Barely Breathing, 2023; and Silence, 2024), an EP (Wanderlust, 2017), and a second full length album (I Can’t Be The One You Want Me To Be, 2019). The album’s final track Wayward One was featured prominently in the hit Chinese film The White Storm 2 and has catapulted Rae into near stardom in China. In addition to performing, Rae is a producer, mentor, educator, and session player. She also co-owns Iron Bull Records recording studio in St. Paul, MN with her husband and partner Eric Martin. When she’s not working on music, Rae can be found wandering around in search of a good thrift shop, food spot, ghost story, music to hear, and pretty things to see. If you really want to get her going, ask her about her son (who is a handsome dog named Roadie), if she’s ever played the game Dominion, and/or her thoughts on Bigfoot.
