LINEUP The Reverse of Sam & Dave featuring Anthony Cox & Mike Lewis PLUS Emma Garau & Sarah Navratil ABOUT MIKE LEWIS Mike Lewis was born and raised in a musical family in the Twin Cities. That he would pursue a life in music as well quickly became clear, and the support he's received from his family and closest friends cannot be overstated. The saxophone and a love for jazz came early, while an endless obsession with music in all forms has led him to pick up other instruments along the way. He is a founding member of Happy Apple, Fat Kid Wednesdays and Alpha Consumer, and can be heard live and on recording with Bon Iver, Bonny Light Horseman, and countless others. He's played music on 6 continents over a 30+ year career, and will continue in love and gratitude as long as he's able. ABOUT ANTHONY COX Anthony Cox’s career has spanned over 30 years encompassing music education, composition, and performance that include an extensive list of collaborations, performances, and recordings with notable artists in the field of jazz. The list includes Sam Rivers, Joe Lovano, Geri Allen, Kenny Wheeler, Ed Blackwell, Billy Higgins, John Scofield, The NDR Big Band, Dino Saluzzi, and Henry Threadgill. ABOUT EMMA GERAU Emma Garau is a drummer and composer based in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated with a BFA in jazz and contemporary music from UNC Asheville in 2022 while independently studying with Dave King of The Bad Plus, and touring extensively with Fortezza- which she co- founded in 2016. Emma has toured and/or recorded with artists including Powderhorns, Grace Christian X, and Geologist (of Animal Collective).She currently tours and records with art punk duo, ¿WATCHES?, andasa solo artist.Emma endorses 651 Drums. ABOUT SARAH NAVRATIL Originally from Minneapolis Minnesota and currently based in New York City, Sarah Navratil is an improviser, woodwind doubler, and recent Graduate of the Eastman School of Music from the studio of Charles Pillow. Sarah has performed alongside musicians like Alexa Tarantino, Brian Lynch, Carmen Bradford, and Jeremy Pelt and at notable festivals and venues such as the Rochester International Jazz Festival,Twin Cities Jazz festival, Eau Claire Jazz festival, and the JAS Aspen Academy small group sessions. Through the Women In Jazz Organization, Sarah has been mentored by and has worked closely with Camille Thurman and Maria Grand. Prior to graduating in 2024 Sarah was recognized by the Downbeat Student Awards as a part of the Eastman Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Christine Jensen for Outstanding Graduate Big Band College Performances.
