Guitarist (Cole Pivec), drummer (Henning Hanson), and vocalist (Daisy Forester) met as students in their first year at the University of Minnesota and blend together backgrounds in classical music, jazz, and rock to create their distinctive sound. Within a year of existence, the band self-recorded, produced, and released a full-length concept album aurally tracing the evolution of underground music in the Twin Cities, all from their bedroom studio in Marcy Holmes, Minneapolis. Dial Tone has consistently defied categorization, evident in their debut self-titled album (which spans alt-rock, grunge, punk, and indie pop). With their most recent release -- Time For A Living -- they have once more demonstrated their capacity for musical range. Dial Tone's latest project was completed fully DIY while every member was on a different continent, and includes stripped-down reimaginings of four songs off their debut record and a cover of Hippo Campus' "Suicide Saturday", live-recorded at The Fine Line. Moving forward, Dial Tone has every intention of continuing to explore new genres, topics, and ways of engaging in and supporting the independent DIY Twin Cities scene, and zero intention of becoming any more categorizable beyond that. ABOUT SCORCHED WAVES Scorched Waves, is an indie rock sensation hailing from Stevens Point, WI.
