DOORS 5PM SHOW 7PM $10 ADVANCE $15 AT THE DOOR THE MUATAS 2022 American Composer’s Award recipients, “The Muatas” are a Minneapolis based duo formed in early 2019, who were voted 3 years later by The Current (89.3FM) in March of 2022 as one of the best 10 bands to turn up, following the release of the single and title track from their 3rd album, “Battle Weary”. Their sound is highly emotive, with lots of minor chords and dark ambient undertones, and soul-stirring melodies that linger. All that, coupled with hauntingly shadowy guitar sounds makes for an interesting blend of post-punk, trip-hop, and electronic. The band is comprised of partners Cam Muata (guitar, vocals, synths) and Ayanna Muata (keyboards/synths, vocals, bass guitar) both former members of the band “Cold Front” (1990-1991) Their single, “Something is Happening” was recognized by Punk Black as one of thirty singles by BIPOC artists that “Kicked Ass” in 2022. Their newest single, Everything Everything Everything was just released July 18, 2024. BETHANY LARSON & THE BEE'S KNEES Bethany Larson & The Bee’s Knees is one of Twin Cities best kept secrets as declared by Twin Cities Metro. Bethany grew up with three older brothers singing in the church choir. She picked up the guitar at fifteen, and during her college years she trained in classical voice. She now performs with her backing band, “The Bee’s Knees” – comprised of her brother Chris Larson on guitar, keyboard and backing vocals, Alicia Kay on bass and backing vocals, and Sara Horishnyk on drums. “…Bethany’s voice has evolved beautifully: as much Ella Fitzgerald and Juliette Greco as Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams. Bethany’s lyrics about love and heartbreak have a worldly sophistication and the band has fleshed out unique and sweet arrangements that both swoon and rock.” –Adam Levy, The Honeydogs
