For more information. visit www.facebook.com/twincitiesflamenco. José Cortés was born in the south of France into an important gypsy family from Almería. At the age of ten, José began his career in Jerez de la Frontera where he won the "premio del joven aficionado del cante flamenco," accompanied on guitar by Terremoto hijo. He was immersed in the world of flamenco with the greatest artists, such as Terremoto, Pansequito, Camarón de la Isla, Moraito Chico and Tomatito. Since then, he has shared the stage with the some of the best artists, including Belen Lopez, Alfonso Losa, Sergio Arranda, and Manuel de la Malena. In 2010, he moved to the United States and now works with many amazing artists such as Jason McGuire, Ricardo Diaz (and on his record Traversura), Yaelisa "Camino Flamencos", Carola Zertuche "Teatro Flamenco," Zorongo Flamenco, Fanny Ara, Melissa Cruz, Cristina Hall, Jesus Muñoz, Jesus Montoya, Antonio de Jerez and Pedro Cortés. An incredible and traditional artist, José Cortés Fernández surprises us now by taking a step forward in his conception of flamenco by making pure flamenco live alongside other genres. After years of studying ballet, tap and music as a flutist, Raquel del Bosque embraces Flamenco as an opportunity to tell the story of who she is and what she’s experienced, through rhythm and movement. Raquel’s teachers and mentors include Melinda Marquez, Xianix Barrera, and most recently, Susana di Palma. She has performed with artists in the Tri-State area (NY-NJ-CT) and as a member of the Xianix Barrera Flamenco Dance Company in NYC. She is proud to be part of the Minneapolis Flamenco community, performing with Twin Cities Flamenco Collective, and as a new member of the Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theater Ensemble.
