Rachel will be joined by Alec Watson, Liz Draper, Toby Ramaswamy, Hilary James and special guests as they unveil unreleased bangers from the new Her Crooked Heart studio project.
What a gorgeous time I've been having making a record with this crew! The mind-boggling artistry of Alec Watson (who'll play an opening set). The somehow steady yet psychedelic Liz Draper. Toby Ramaswamy's huge heart and way of always being down to explore. Hilary James: my ride or die and purveyor of all the disarming joy, production ideas and most luscious cello tones. Adelyn Strei brings the wildness with woodwinds. Duets with JE Sunde and Hemma. And a choir! There's a choir. And throughout all that, it's just been so chill yet oddly effective to work with co-producer Mike Noyce and Dexter Wolfe at the board.
The record won't be out until next year but the songs are alive and bursting with energy NOW so we're going to play them for you. Poet Rock? Unexpected Love Songs? I'm not sure how to describe this album yet so maybe if you come, you can help me find the words.
Rachel Ries is the voice behind Her Crooked Heart, the choral arranging mastermind behind Kith + Kin Chorus and the builder of a terribly charming tiny home on wheels. She's released many records and toured around the world but mostly she enjoys being an auntie, thinking in 8-part harmony, solving construction conundrums, writing songs for patrons and honing her Portuguese Egg Tart baking skills.
