Celebrate the anniversary of Hip Hop properly—with full DJ sets from DJ Mickey Breeze, DJ Cassieopia, DJ Huh?What??, and DJ Digie at Icehouse on August 15th! Each DJ will spin nothing but hits for an hour and the night will end with all four DJs rocking together with bangers, to close out the night! The Urgent Emergent Performance Art Series powered by TruArtSpeaks (Urgent Art Series) is a year-long residency at Icehouse in Minneapolis, MN, taking place monthly, every third Saturday,* in celebration of TruArtSpeaks' 20th year anniversary and - more importantly - all of the artists who make our work and community what it is.

Founded in 2006, by Tish Jones, the arts & culture organization based in Saint Paul has a long history of providing platforms for artists to share timely and innovative work— this series is no different. The Urgent Art Series will invite new and true collaborators to share work that speaks to both the nightly theme and the series' invitation: urgent and emergent performance art. Known for being bold in their creative work, TruArtSpeaks has curated a year of creative expression that will move the crowd, the needle, and change forward through creative cultural expression.

Artist Information

DJ Mickey Breeze

Mickey Breeze is one of the Twin Cities' most creative and skilled DJ's and Beatmakers in the scene. Teacher, Producer, Artist, and a Professional DJ for the Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves, Mickey Breeze is a musical powerhouse with over 15 years of experience. He has comprised an impressive list of accomplishments including DJing at both local and national events such as SXSW, Soundset Music Festival, Twin Cities Pride, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival, and Paisley Park’s “Crown Our Prince” Mural Reveal and Block Party. He also performs and teaches as a resident DJ/teacher for the Deeper Learning Conference Series, Slam Academy and Minneapolis Public Schools. Mickey’s incredible live show is interestingly different from his peers as he incorporates the use of a drum pad controller, to add percussion beats and transitions over the top of his unmatched turntablism, adding a unique experience for those in attendance.

DJ Huh?What??

DJ Huh?What?? of Pack Material Entertainment, is a very active dj in the Twin Cities – from radio shows to private parties, all the way to community protests/ gatherings/festivals to corporate events as well as the concert scene. He is not only a rising local dj but is also a part of the national dj organization, Fleet Djs. Fleet DJs boast a national as well as global reach.

DJ Huh?What?? is the leader of the MN Chapter of Fleet which has 10 other notable DJs. He specializes in mixing 80s, 90s, local, and today's music.

DJ Cassieopia

DJ Cassieopia is a community organizer, cultural curator, and DJ rooted in Saint Paul’s historic Rondo

Community. With over a decade in the Twin Cities music scene, she has performed at venues

including First Avenue/7th Street Entry, Walker Art Center, and Guthrie Theater.

As the official DJ for Lady Midnight, she toured in support of Dessa and later closed out the Northside

Achievement Zone Gala at The Armory, following Diana Ross.Committed to uplifting marginalized

BIPOC artists, DJ Cassieopia uses DJing not only to energize audiences but to advance equity,

access, and social impact through music.

DJ Digie

Roosevelt Mansfield, known as DJ Digie, is a dedicated educator, mentor, DJ, photographer, and cultural advocate with over 30 years of experience empowering youth and fostering community growth. A proud "Son of Rondo" from Saint Paul, Minnesota, Roosevelt’s work bridges education, music, and the arts to create opportunities, celebrate cultural heritage, and inspire the next generation.
