The Deslondes have always been less a band than a family. Formed more than 15 years ago from neighborhood hangs at Sam Doores’ home on Deslonde Street, the group grew out of shared meals, shared songs, and a shared belief that music should feel like home. What began as an anything-goes gathering evolved into a five-piece collective of songwriters and multi-instrumentalists bound by friendship, trust, and a deep musical curiosity.
Drawing from a rich gumbo of influences—classic country, hobo folk, rural blues, R&B, rockabilly, Third Ward jazz, and New Orleans traditions—their sound is rooted in tradition but never confined by genre. Each member brings their own voice, with the freedom to explore and the support of a true collaborative unit.
Their latest album, Roll It Out, reflects both where they started and who they’ve become: crackling with the energy of their early days while carrying the perspective and tenderness of long-term partnership. It’s an album about devotion—to friends, to music, to the road, and to the people who’ve grown alongside them—capturing a band that’s still moving forward by staying deeply connected to where they began.
