That he would pursue a life in music as well quickly became clear, and the support he's received from his family and closest friends cannot be overstated. The saxophone and a love for jazz came early, while an endless obsession with music in all forms has led him to pick up other instruments along the way. He is a founding member of Happy Apple, Fat Kid Wednesdays and Alpha Consumer, and can be heard live and on recording with Bon Iver, Bonny Light Horseman, and countless others. He's played music on 6 continents over a 30+ year career, and will continue in love and gratitude as long as he's able. ABOUT PAUL METZGER A virtuoso on a myriad of stringed instruments, Minneapolis-based experimental/progressive folk artist Paul Metzger focuses much of his creative energy on his 23-string modified banjo. A student of both Eastern and Western traditional music, Metzger first appeared on a split album that featured guitarist Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance) and lauded improv drummer Chris Corsano on one side and Metzger’s unique improvisational guitar work on the other. ABOUT JEREMY YLVISAKER Jeremy Ylvisaker is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, teacher, and visual artist who has worked with a with a wide variety of popular and underground art makers. His music and images are influenced by decades of these disparate collaborations and friendships, distilling into many records both solo and with his trio Alpha Consumer. ABOUT ERIK FRATZKE Erik Fratzke is a composer/performer/educator based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Best known for his work as the bassist of Happy Apple, he also leads his own quartet, Fake Accent. He is also a member of Craig Taborn’s Junk Magic, and Cory Healey’s Beautiful Sunshine Band. As a guitarist, Erik is a member of The Dave King Trucking Company, the avant-metal group Abhorrent Expanse, Scott Miller’s Fifth Column Ensemble, The Gang Font feat. Greg Norton, as well as the leader of the instrumental rock group Zebulon Pike. His compositions have been performed and recorded by the new music group Zeitgeist. Erik has performed/recorded with Tim Berne, Ethan Iverson, Adam Levy, Michel Portal, Rhys Chatham, Airto, Benoit Delbec, and Yoshida Tatsuya (Ruins).
