Local jazz-rock veterans Terramara are reuniting a large ensemble to deliver a dynamic live performance of their seminal 2005 album Four Blocks To Hennepin in its entirety. The evening will begin with an opening set by the Matt McIntyre Trio. The Terramara quartet of Rob Meany (keys, vocals), David Thomas (drums), Karl Koopman (guitar) and James Towns (bass), will be joined by a horn section and background singers to produce a freshly-orchestrated version of the fourteen-track recording. Formed by local singer-songwriter-keyboardist Rob Meany, Terramara has released three albums, garnering a loyal following among smart-pop lovers worldwide. The band’s sound could be described as somewhere between Steely Dan and Ben Folds. Their second album, Four Blocks To Hennepin, remains an artistic milestone for the band, blending elements of pop, progressive rock, and jazz into an expansive and diverse sonic production. "..The sophomore album is a piano- and horn-driven effort full of tight, poppy harmonies and instrumental jams that could light an incense stick.” — Chris Reimenschneider, Star Tribune. The Matt McIntyre Trio plays all original music written for a custom dual output guitar/bass hybrid. The unique instrumentation lends itself extremely well to Afro-Caribbean and Funk styles, and the original tunes explore as much of those styles as possible. Twin Cities instrumental veterans bring an altered version of the standard organ trio to life for a fresh new style.
